Our marketing lead Kirsten Stone volunteers with New York Cares, a New York-based organization that allows you to volunteer based on your neighborhood and free time. New York Cares narrows your options down to what works best for you. You can also use New York Cares to search by various interest areas such as animals, environment, kids, and more.

AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS (ASPCA)

Our licensed real estate agent Charlë Webb volunteers at ASPCA, an organization that protects animals from homelessness and cruelty by rescue, placement, and protection. ASPCA has plenty of ways to take action as well as volunteer opportunities. In New York City, you can volunteer at the ASPCA adoption center or become a pet foster parent.

Best Friends Animal Society works toward saving homeless animals and raising awareness about animal killings in shelters. “I absolutely love this organization,” our managing partner Karla Saladino says. They have many opportunities to volunteer--from fostering to helping at fundraisers. To start volunteering, create an account through the website, they send monthly emails with ways to get involved.

Our licensed real estate agent Jessica Milton volunteers for Citymeals on Wheels, an organization that delivers food to homebound elderly in New York City. There are a variety of volunteering opportunities including meal delivery, handmade cards, kitchen helpers, friendly visiting, senior chat, office helpers, and senior script.

You can volunteer by becoming an ambassador for the organizations. Types of ambassadors include chapter leader, community ambassador, fundraising ambassador, and social awareness ambassador.

Our finance manager Michael Rocquet is involved with Housing Works, an organization that works to ensure those with HIV/AIDS have access to quality housing and healthcare among other services. To fund its mission, Housing Works has a couple of entrepreneurial ventures including thrift shops and a bookstore cafe. You can sign up to volunteer 4 hours/week for at least six months.

Our licensed real estate agent Jessica Milton volunteers for Planned Parenthood, one of the leading affordable health care providers and the largest provider of sex education. Volunteering opportunities vary around the nation depending on what is available, but Planned Parenthood has three great ways to take action including becoming a PP Defender.

 

Youth Empowerment

Our managing partner Karla Saladino is a long-time member of Catholic Big Sisters & Big Brothers, a mentorship program that pairs children from first generation, low-income families with positive role models. Recently, our director of operations Leslie Zemnick also joined the program and took on a mentee. The time commitment for becoming a mentor requires 8 hours/month for face-to-face meetings with your mentee as well as weekly phone call check-ins. You can apply online.
